AWARDS & SCHOLARSHIPS OVERVIEW

School Nutrition Association of Arizona awards annual scholarships and awards to deserving members. SNAAZ supports many educational programs and scholarships. This is accomplished by raising funds from individuals and companies in the food service industry. In addition to scholarships, SNAAZ provides many members with a variety of awards to give recognition to those members that go above and beyond in their profession.

EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR

The Employee of the Year award recognizes non-managerial school nutrition employees for the contributions they have made throughout their school nutrition career.

MANAGER OF THE YEAR

The Manager of the Year award, in honor of Louise Sublette recognizes school nutrition managers for the contributions they have made throughout their school nutrition career.

THE DIRECTOR OF THE YEAR AWARD

The Director of the Year award recognizes school nutrition directors for the contributions they have made throughout their school nutrition career.

PRESIDENTS AWARD OF EXCELLENCE

President’s Award of Excellence (formerly Thelma Flanagan Gold Award. The President’s Award of Excellence recognizes each chapter presidents each year who demonstrate extraordinary leadership by successfully implementing strategies that advance school nutrition programs in their states and who made the extra effort in achieving excellence in each of SNAAZ’s five Strategic Pillars.

LEADERSHIP AWARDS

The Leadership Award recognizes an outstanding executive board member who demonstrates extraordinary leadership skills by successfully working with SNAAZ members to implement strategies that advance school nutrition programs.

SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDS

SNAAZ offers two (2) academic scholarships on an annual basis to children of members pursuing higher education degrees in foodservice and education that will better the overall health and lives of individuals, based upon available funds.

CHILD NUTRITION FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS

The Child Nutrition foundation provides members with opportunities to explore higher education options. The scholarships and grants available are:

  • Schwan’s Food Service Scholarship
  • SNF Professional Growth Scholarship
  • Winston Industries Build Your Future Scholarship
  • GED Jump Start Scholarship
  • Handgauds Inc. Nancy Curry Scholarship
  • Kathleen Stitt Award

MEMBERSHIP AWARDS

Each year, SNAAZ recognizes chapters for increasing membership, attaining the membership goals determined by SNA, and achieving the greatest increase in membership amongst state associations.

HIGHEST STAR CLUB RECRUITER OF THE AWARD

Each chapter which increases its membership over the previous August 31 year end numbers will be awarded $200. Also, certificates will be awarded to the Chapter President at the SNAAZ’s annual conference.

TOP STAR CLUB RECRUITERS (100 + NEW MEMBERS) AWARD

Each chapter which meets its membership goal for the year (as determined by SNA headquarters) plus the recruiting of any new members will be awarded this certificate award and a tote bag. The goal for 2017-18 is a 3% increase in membership.

All new members at the conference will receive a tote bag. All SDM district/chapters will receive a messenger bag.

All of the above awards and certificate are subject to change based on the discretion of SNA, and collaboration between the SNAAZ President and the membership awards chairperson.
